Just before kickoff, we gathered for a quick photo—our team lined up in red polos and black shorts. There’s something about that moment that still sticks with me. The turf beneath us was warm from the sun, the netting behind us swayed slightly in the breeze, and the city buildings loomed in the background like silent spectators.
I remember standing there, looking at the boys—some nervous, some buzzing with excitement. My assistant coach stood far end, arms crossed, lanyard swinging, trying to look serious but clearly proud. We weren’t just a group of players—we were a team. A unit. And even though we hadn’t touched the ball yet, we already felt like we belonged to something bigger than ourselves.
This photo captured more than just faces. It held the energy of anticipation, the quiet confidence, and the unspoken promise that we’d give it everything once the whistle blew.
